Australia World Cup Squad

Defending World champions Australia has announced their 15 men squad for the mega event ICC World Cup 2011, starting 19th February. Despite injuries-prone pacemen Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and experienced batsmen Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey are included in the squad.

The chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch said that selected team is the best to defend the World Cup. He also said that injured players Ponting and Hussey will recover soon to be available for the ICC World Cup 2011. The shocking surprise was paceman Peter Siddle, who was left out despite his cracking performance in Ashes 2011 both with ball and bat.

Ricky Ponting will remain the captain and Micheal Clarke as vice captain of Australian team for the mega event. Spinners Nathan Hauritz and Steve Smith and also wicket-keeper Tim Paine were included in the squad. The squad includes 9 batsmen, 2 Spinners and 4 Fast bowlers.

The Final Australian Squad for ICC World Cup 2011: Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke (vc), Shane Watson, Cameron White, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Brad Haddin (wk), Tim Paine (wk), John Hastings, Nathan Hauritz, Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and Doug Bollinger.
